One thing that made Tweetie for iPhone famous was the ability to use multiple accounts, atebits has done a great job here and has integrated this feature into the desktop version. All someone has to do is switch between the two icons on the side bar and begin tweeting from that account. This flows perfectly within the app and makes it much easier to tweet from multiple accounts.

Tweetie is made up of a bunch of short cut keys. This saves a lot of time from clicking a person and finding the retweet option or reply option. To post a new tweet, all you do is hit the keys Commmand+N. A mini window box will appear for your tweet, after you’re done creating your tweet you hit the keys Command+Enter; this saves you from all those accidental tweets you do when you hit enter. Using the short cut keys makes Tweetie so much easier to use, it takes awhile to getting used to but after a day or two you’ll be using short cut keys like you’ve been using them your whole life.

Something the iPhone version had, but was not made as popular, was the ability to add a bookmarklet to the app. It is included in the desktop version, and it makes sharing an article or video so much easier. All you do is click “Post with Tweetie” in your bookmark bar and a tweet window pops up with the URL in it. You can then shorten the link by hitting the keys Option+Command+S. Then you can send your tweet out for the world to see. This brings me to talk about the multiple URL shortening services Tweetie brings to it’s users. You can choose between Tinyurl, Bitly, Diggbar, and more. This also applies to posting pictures, you can use TwitPic, yFrog,and more. Personally, I use Bitly and TwitPic. Integrations with photos on Tweetie is amazing, all you have to do is click a photo link in someone’s tweet, instead of being redirected to your internet browser the photo just pops up in a mini window.

We all know that Tweetie would not be complete without the ability to search. On the side bar is a magnifying glass, click that and a little search bar pops up in the right hand corner. Type in what you want to search, ranging from trends to replies. The results come up and you can scroll through them. You also have to ability to open the searches into a separate window, Just start a search, then go to Window -> Open in New Window to tear that search off into its own window.

After a few days of using it, Tweetie for Mac has now become my official desktop app for Twitter. It’s available in two versions; Free with ads that are very nonintrusive and 14.95 (until May 4th) for a non-ad version. Some things I would like to see incorporated into a future version would be the increase frequency of refreshes. I personally love this application and know that you will love it too.

As his name suggests, Danny MacAskill has some serious skill. The music adds a nice touch to the video, as well. But please, before you try any of the insane stunts he does, notice he wears a helmet. Safety first, kids.

Goodreads is by no means a new website, but it deserve a shout out. If you are interested at least a tiny bit in reading books, Goodreads is the perfect place organize everything.

In Goodreads, you have the ability to set up bookshelves according to books you’ve read, books you’re currently reading, and books you would like to read in the future. The site also allows you to create custom bookshelves. A typical custom bookshelf is the self-explanatory “wishlist”, but you really have the freedom to make whatever shelf you want.

There are also many accessory features such as groups and trivia. A feature that I find useful is the ability to update your progress in a book that you’re reading. It can sometimes function as a virtual bookmark.

Goodreads is essentially a social network for people who like books. After having used the site for months, I can firmly recommend it to anyone. Go check it out.

If so, I’d first like to tell you that I think you have good taste in music. Secondly, there’s a website offering special editions of the band’s first three albums. They include the original album and a bonus disc, and some other special edition goodies. If you’d like to check them out, the site is called Radiohead Vault. The Vault links you to Amazon to make purchases. I myself am going to have to buy all of these sooner or later. 

Let me give you the low down about this app real quick; when you first get the app it comes preloaded with over 50 sounds. The sounds are placed in four categories, which is represented by the tabs at the bottom of the app, the categories are:

• General
• Animals
• Nature
• People

This is what could make the app possibly be considered “Four apps in One.” Instead of going out and buying a app that pertains to the categories listed above, all you have to do is purchase this one and you’re pretty much set. General sounds include alarm, card shuffling, explosion, etc. Pretty much random sounds that are pretty cool to mix together, which brings me to mention this: unlike other sound apps, in SoundFXs you can play multiple sounds at once to create something creative and fun. Animals include a dog barking, a elephant, goat, etc. The funniest thing to do with this one is when someone is walking past your room, hit all the animal sounds at once and watch that person’s reaction! Nature includes sounds like wind, thunder, ocean, etc. People includes sounds like applause, farting, knocking, etc. The perfect thing to do with the “People” category is to tap all the sounds at once, the outcome is amazing!

The app packs a lot of fun and laughter(literally, laughter is one of the sounds). This app is great if you’re on a phone call and you want to play some sounds to freak out the person you are talking to, just hit the home button, open up the app, and just go crazy! Unlike other apps where you have to buy certain ones to get certain sounds, this conveniently packs together all the sounds one could need. You won’t be stuck with all these sounds forever, more sounds will be implemented come future free updates!

The app does have it’s bugs and the occasional  crash here and there, but updates will come and fix that. This app is great to play around with and gets some laughs from friends, but don’t expect to be using it 24/7, it’s simple and fun.

For 0.99 cents, this is a GREAT deal for an app that is basically “four apps in one!!”
